Recent TAXI Member Success Stories

Dear Songwriters, Composers, Producers, and Artists,

People often ask us why we don’t have examples of TAXI member success stories on our website. We actually have them on our website, but apparently, not everybody sees them ;-)

We’ve decided to do a monthly email that features some recent success stories, and this is the first one. We didn’t want to make this email a mile long, so here are some featured examples for your reading pleasure!

$40,000 for a placement in a Jack Daniel’s Commercial!

 “Hello! To anyone reading, my name is Braiden Wood. I was a founding member, and toured with the pop-rock band, Before You Exit. We had the privilege of playing shows with All Time Low, Yellow Card, and Mayday Parade. 

In 2017, my manager recommended that I also look into the sync music industry, and signed me up for TAXI. As I started watching TAXI TV and submitting songs to listings, I quickly learned it was a different goal in sync, and started testing the waters by submitting to different genres. 

I attended my first TAXI Road Rally conference in Los Angeles that November, and it was an awesome trip! I gained valuable insight, and made lots of great connections with other producers and songwriters there.  

Shortly after the Road Rally, I submitted to two of TAXI’s listings in the 'Advertising' category. They both stated that the [upfront sync fees] for the placements could be in the ballpark of $10,000, each! One request was for a calm, serene commercial, and the other request was for sports-type music. 

Little did I know that the listings came from the same company. Both submissions passed through [TAXI’s] screening, and shortly after that I got a call from one of the listing company’s owners to discuss the songs, and what working together could look like. 

Since then, they’ve signed many of my songs, and placed them in ads for products like: Jack Daniel’s, Alta, and Teacher’s Credit Union! 

And to top it off, the Jack Daniel’s commercial, alone, has made over $40,000, so TAXI’s listing didn’t lie! I’m truly grateful for that sync company and TAXI for all their hard work, and for teaching me how to be successful in the sync music industry.”

Five-Figure Deal and Scoring for a Discovery+ Show

 “Just wanted to swoop in and let you know about some really great opportunities popping up my way recently!

Over the last two months, I've been given some really great opportunities to write custom scores for a new Discovery+ show, which is an upfront paid gig. The publisher is basically linking me up directly with clips from the show, and I get to score to picture. So cool to be able to do that, and not something I really imagined being able to do this early in my sync journey. All feedback that I have received has been super positive, so it looks like there will be more and more opportunities to come! 

On TOP of that, just a few weeks ago I connected with someone that is looking for some custom work, and because of its unique usage, there won't be much backend money. To offset that though, the upfront consideration fee is FIVE-figures! Absolutely crazy!

As you can probably figure out, all this started from TAXI! Relationships built, networking established, connecting with the right people... none of this would have happened had I not joined TAXI on a whim a few years back. I'd honestly still probably be sitting with a half dozen unfinished projects on my hard drive wondering if I could ever actually do something notable with my music.”

Two Feature Film Placements, starring Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin!

“My placement in the recent Christmas movie, Spirited, (starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds) came through a TAXI client that I met during the Mentor Lunch at my first Road Rally back in 2015. I've had several placements with this Music Library since then, and this particular placement was for a public domain Christmas song that was part of a batch that were originally pitched for a Marvel movie in 2021. That didn't work out, but apparently someone liked my arrangement and found a home for it in this new movie. I found out about the placement back in June, and received a four-figure, upfront payment a few months later. I've also learned that my name made it into the film’s end credits, which is a first for me! 

Another track of mine, a classic Jazz quartet ballad, has been placed in the film, Moving On, starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. That placement came from another TAXI client that I met thanks to a TAXI forward many years ago.

TAXI helped me become the production composer I am today. The education you get from other members, from TAXI TV... it's all about the people, the personal network, the TAXI Forums (forums.taxi.com), and of course the Rally. It was awesome to see everyone face-to-face after three years.”

Sports/Rock Cue Used in Promo for CBS Hit, S.W.A.T.

“In 2017, my Road Rally One-to-One mentor was the owner of a Hollywood Production Music Library. He listened to some of my music and signed several tracks. He also put me on a list to receive future project briefs. 

I submitted to many of those briefs, and the library owner subsequently signed several more of my vocal songs and instrumental cues. One of those was a Sports Rock cue written with my friend James Thacker titled, 'Throw Down.'
 
Fast forward to fall of 2022, and I received an email from the library owner that 'Throw Down' had been placed in a trailer/teaser on CBS for the season premiere of the hit TV show, S.W.A.T.!

I would not have met this library owner, and gotten this placement, if I hadn’t gone to TAXI’s free convention -The Road Rally!
