for sync placements by three great companies
Dear ,
We've been getting more and more requests for songs that are thematically or topically-driven rather than genre-driven lately, and we're happy about that.
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. The music supervisor needs a song about "friendship" for a scene, and that theme is more important than the genre. Maybe several genres or styles could work, but the supervisor won't know until he/she hears them and sees how the lyric and the style work with the scene.
Something to consider: common sense should play a role in which genres of friendship songs you decide to pitch.
Most friendship scenes would likely be somewhat heart-warming or tender, so the odds of a death metal song making the final cut would likely be smaller than a singer-songwriter song. But, as you will see by the references, not all of them are "sappy" styles. Choose wisely! Food for thought.
There ya go! Have at it, and we hope you've got some great songs to submit.
BTW, can you please take a second and reply to this email and let us know which genres you most frequently write and record? It helps us track down opportunities that will be most fruitful for you!
Talk to you tomorrow,
Michael
