Dear ,
I had lunch with a 55-year-old musician friend last Saturday. He had no idea that music supervisors and editors choose the music they use based on how well it fits the scene.
You know… does it enhance the emotion or the action? Does it help establish a time period or a sense of place?
He’d never really thought about the fact that music supervisors and music libraries aren’t like label A&R people from back in the day. They’re not out there hunting for hit songs or artists.
That’s exactly what this year’s keynote panel at our conference is going to make crystal clear. The better musicians understand that distinction, the better their chances will be of getting their music into TV shows and films.
